Tamara Sullivan Oboe

Tammy Sullivan joined the Benedetti Foundation as an Instrumental Ambassador in 2022 and is currently in her second year of the programme.

After graduating from Cardiff University with a First Class Honours and the Dr E.H Griffiths Award for Orchestral Performance, Tammy was awarded a scholarship to study at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. Studying under the tuition of Steven Hudson, Lucie Sprague and Patrick Flanaghan, Tammy completed her masters in Oboe Performance in which she achieved a Distinction and won the Howarth of London Double Reed Prize.

After studying in Cardiff for five years, Tammy returned to Dorset where she now works as a freelance musician and educator. Promoting safe spaces and creating opportunities for young people to make music together is central to Tammy’s ethos. Currently, Tammy is an instrumental teacher in schools across Purbeck, Poole and Bournemouth and continues to perform in various orchestras and groups, most recently Ensemble 360 with Music in the Round. She is also a participant in the London Symphony Orchestra Pathways scheme for 2023/2025.

Tammy’s favourite experience with the Benedetti Foundation was working on their in-person weekend in Cardiff in 2022, where she got to witness the impact of their work first hand.
