RESIDENCY SESSIONS

The Residency Sessions are a branch of our live Benedetti Sessions. Delivered in partnership with music services across the UK, these Sessions provide a motivational opportunity for young people, instrumentalists and non-instrumentalists alike, and a source of support and uplift for teachers.

Collaboration is at the heart of these sessions. They are designed closely with the partner organisations to ensure they are of greatest benefit in enhancing their day-to-day work. During each residency, we visit local schools to lead primary music workshops and host professional development sessions for primary classroom teachers and instrumental teachers, as well as delivering a Benedetti Sessions Strings Day.

Here Amanda Currie, Youth Music Initiative Practitioner speaks on the impact of the Residency Sessions on Inverclyde Music Service.

IMPACT OF THE RESIDENCY SESSIONS 2022-2023

In the 2022-23 academic year, we worked with 16 amazing music service partners and the Residency Sessions reached:

17,013 primary school children

1,458 school age string players

1,167 classroom and instrumental teachers

130 primary schools

“Thank you so much for the musicians from the Benedetti Foundation. What an amazing workshop yesterday for Years 1 and 2. I was in awe of how they had the children at their fingertips. The quality of the provision was top class. I wish we had it for the whole school.” - Southville Primary School

Just a wee message to say how wonderful today was and how grateful I am for the fantastic experience you provided for our kids today. I was quite emotional watching them play together - an opportunity that is very difficult to provide here. It was pretty mind blowing! - Catriona Garvin, Head of Argyll + Bute Music Service

“What an amazing, fun-filled workshop delivered by the energetic Lucy and Calum from The Benedetti Foundation. Our P1-3 children were totally engaged, learnt new skills and got the chance to talk about why music was so important to them.” - Auchenlodment Primary School
