Susanna Alsey Violin

Susanna Alsey is a freelance violinist and educator. Since 2022, Susanna has worked as an Ambassador for the Benedetti Foundation and as a Resident Graduate Assistant at The Purcell School. She works with the National Children’s Orchestras of Great Britain, National Youth Choirs of Great Britain and from September 2023, she will also be working at Sevenoaks School as a Graduate Music Assistant.

Susanna currently studies violin under the tutelage of Krzysztof Smietana. Susanna has performed in various projects including the Buxton International Festival Young Instrumentalists Programme, Irish Chamber Orchestra Academy, at the BBC Proms and alongside the Hallé Orchestra.

Whilst an undergraduate student at the University of Cambridge, Susanna held a Newnham College Instrumental Award, a Choral Exhibitioner Award, and was President of the Raleigh Music Society. She studied the violin with Stephen Bryant and played in an array of orchestral projects including Cambridge University Orchestra and Cambridge University Opera Society. 

In 2022, Susanna completed her Masters in Violin Performance at the Royal Northern College of Music studying violin under Yossi Zivoni. Whilst a postgraduate student, she won the RNCM Underrepresented Prize and performed at the InterHarmony International Music Festival, where she studied under Milan Vitek and performed in masterclasses with Dmitry Sitkovetsky, Chin Kim and Yuri Zaidenberg. She also performed in a masterclass with Sophia Jaffé at the RNCM and undertook further study with Professor Jaffé at the Allegro Vivo Festival in Austria. Her violin and bow are kindly on loan from the Benslow Music Trust.
