Rebekah Clarke Cello

Rebekah Clarke is a freelance cellist, teacher and community musician based in Manchester, having completed her undergraduate studies at the Royal Northern College of Music and University of Manchester on the Joint Course. As a performer, Rebekah specialises in orchestral and chamber music, as well as the performance of contemporary repertoire, from performing as the soloist in Huw Watkins‘ Sonata for Cello and Eight Instruments to uncovering lesser-known composers with her clarinet trio. She thrives in exploring the unheard and new. This is coupled with a range of orchestral experience, as principle of the Opera North Youth Orchestra, the solo cellist in Jonathan Dove’s Enchanted Pig at Buxton International Opera Festival, as well as extensive experience during her studies at RNCM working with conductors such as Sir Mark Elder and Anthony Hermus. Rebekah is a keen educator and workshop facilitator, where she has ongoing work as a private tutor, Stockport Music Services as well as for the Benedetti Foundation as a Creative Learning Ambassador. From regular teaching workshop to project-managing her own workshop projects in schools in Manchester, these have both contributed to refining her skills in teaching and facilitating workshops as a leader. Rebekah is passionate about ensuring musical education is accessible to all and giving back to her local community in the Northwest.
