Phoebe Clarke Double Bass

Originally from Melbourne, Australia, double bassist Phoebe Clarke is hugely passionate about achieving gender equality in the double bass community and encouraging supportive, nurturing teaching environments for her students. After graduating with distinction from her undergraduate degree studying double bass at the Royal College of Music, Phoebe is currently finishing her Master’s degree at the Royal Academy of Music in London. Phoebe is most happy when she’s playing in orchestras and has recently worked with ensembles including the London Symphony Orchestra, London Mozart Players and the Academy of St Martin’s in the Field. Phoebe tries to promote healthy and communicative relationships between students and teachers through her work with the Benedetti Foundation, 1-2-1 peripatetic teaching and private teaching. Phoebe hopes to have a long career as a musician and values wellbeing above everything, which was supported by her time studying the Alexander Technique. Regularly attending concerts of different genres of music keeps Phoebe motivated and she recently enjoyed singing in a local community choir. Outside of music, Phoebe loves walking her family dogs and sailing around the Isle of Wight with her family.
