Lee Holland 
Performance Psychology

Originally from London, Lee holds a Bachelor of Music (Hons) a Masters of Music in Performance with Distinction and an MSc in Performance Psychology.

Currently as a freelance orchestral player Lee works regularly with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, Scottish Chamber Orchestra and Orchestra of Scottish Opera.

​Broadcasts have included a performance of contemporary composer Charlotte Seither's solo work Seul avec des Ombres, for a pre prom concert on Radio 3. International performances have included a tour of India with the European Concert Orchestra supporting the band “Coldplay” at the Global Citizen Festival.

​Lee is a passionate advocate and performer of chamber music. In 2018 she was invited to join the board of Chamber Music Scotland (previously Enterprise Music Scotland) to support the growth of Scottish Chamber Music. Alongside the Holland Savaloni Duo, Lee currently performs with Jonathan Chapman in the Atholl Duo (Percussion) and the Monzani Trio.

Competition and scholarship award successes include first prize winner of the Watford and Novgorod Russian music competition, winner of the Jellinek Concerto competition, and Peter Morrison Prize for all round excellence in music.

Throughout her career Lee has been fascinated by performance psychology and the difference training in mental skills can make to performers. Lee has her own company ‘Mental Note Performance’ where is she is the lead Performance Psychology Coach specialising in the Performing Arts. As well as an MSc in Performance Psychology from the University of Edinburgh, she has a Professional Coaching Certificate, from Full Circle Global, accredited by the International Coaching Federation.

As a Mindfulness teacher Lee teaches two 8 week course curriculums Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) (Centre for Mindfulness Research and Practice at Bangor University), and the Mindfulness-Based Living Course (Mindfulness Association- Scotland). Through her business ‘Mental Note Performance’ Lee lectures on two degree accredited modules with musicians, actors and dancers from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland training them in Mental Skills, and Mindfulness for Wellbeing and Performance.
