Kristen Nielsen Violin

Kristen is a vivacious violinist in the early stages of pursuing a career in performance. Having achieved a First-Class degree in Music from the University of Manchester, where she both led and co-led the University Orchestras, Kristen is now undertaking a postgraduate degree at the Royal Academy of Music, and has been selected to perform in the Academy Soloists Ensemble, directed by Trevor Pinnock. Her playing will be presented in a recording produced by Linn Records in September 2023. She has performed in a Side-by-Side concert with members of the London Philharmonic Orchestra, and has enjoyed playing in venues including the Royal Festival Hall, St. John’s Smith Square, and Cadogan Hall.

Kristen studies with Sophie Langdon, and has received tuition from Rosalind Killpack, Emanuela Buta, and Gemma Bass. She has partaken in masterclasses with Nicola Benedetti, Lana Trotovšek and Gary Pomeroy. Kristen particularly enjoys chamber music performance, which has seen her perform at the Benedetto Marcello Venice Music Conservatory as leader of the ‘Nielsen’ Quartet. Additionally, she has performed in orchestral projects with Sir Simon Rattle, Sir Mark Elder, John Wilson and Edward Gardner.

Kristen has a keen interest in the delivery of music education, and her commitment to high quality music tuition and performance has led her to be selected as a fellow for the Junior Royal Academy of Music’s First Strings Experience next year. In addition, she has volunteered in multiple projects both in London and Manchester.  Kristen particularly enjoys singing and performed at Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club.
