Katie Jankinson Violin

Katie has just finished a fantastic two years at the RNCM studying for her MMus in violin performance, under Steve Wilkie. She previously attended Durham University where she held a Vice Chancellor’s Scholarship for Music whilst studying for her degree in Liberal Arts. Whilst at Durham, Katie led and co-led four of Durham’s orchestras and was the Musical Director of Durham’s Chamber Music Society. Katie attended Chetham’s School of Music studying under Yumi Sasaki, where she achieved her DipABRSM on the violin, and AMusTCL theory diploma with distinction.

Katie has performed internationally as a soloist and chamber musician, including in Italy, Ischia, Norway, as well as all over the UK, including at the Welsh Millennium Centre, a world premiere at the Purcell Rooms, London, and at Wigmore Hall as well as performing for the royal family at the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee in Westminster Hall.

Katie currently plays with the RNCM Chamber Orchestra, RNCM Symphony Orchestra, Manchester City Opera Ensemble, Young Musicians Symphony Orchestra, Piccadilly Symphony Orchestra, Socretes Symphony Orchestra, Northern Film Orchestra and Symphonia Verbum Orchestra, and has recently enjoyed side-by-side projects with Manchester Camerata (co-leader), Chamber Orchestra of Europe (1st violinist), and Northern Chamber Orchestra at the Buxton International Festival (sub-leader). Katie loves getting involved in community music projects, such as the Children’s Opera Project, and has many years of experience as an individual music teacher. Katie has loved being an Instrumental Ambassador for the Benedetti Foundation this year!
