In Loving Memory of Joseph Boileau

Joseph Boileau was a keen young cellist, pianist and singer with a deep love of music. Joseph believed music should be for everyone. He knew first-hand how life-changing it can be, and he cared deeply about ensuring that others—no matter their background—could have access to the same opportunities he did.

To honour his life and spirit, Joseph’s family, Sam,  Alice, Edward and Madeleine, have chosen to establish a memorial fund in support of two organisations that reflect his passions and values: the Benedetti Foundation and the Music in Secondary Schools Trust (MiSST).

The Benedetti Foundation, founded by violinist Nicola Benedetti CBE, delivers inspiring music experiences through large-scale events and workshops, placing young string players at the heart of their work. They unite musicians, educators, and learners to celebrate the power of music and its role in shaping confident, creative individuals. https://www.benedettifoundation.org/about-us

MiSST works directly in secondary schools across the UK, particularly in disadvantaged areas, offering free instruments, weekly tuition, and access to orchestral experiences. Their model is built on equality and excellence—giving thousands of students the tools to learn, grow, and believe in their own potential.

Together, these two charities embody Joseph’s generous and inclusive approach to life and music. Supporting them through this fund is a way of continuing his legacy and helping others find inspiration, confidence, and connection through music—just as he did. The Benedetti Foundation, MiSST, Alice, Sam, Edward, Madeleine - and Joseph in our hearts - would be incredibly grateful for any support you can give.
