Jessie Maryon Davies is a pianist and composer. She works for many of the U.K’s leading arts organisations as musical director, concert-presenter and workshop-leader – engaging people of all ages and abilities in making music. She is founder member of classical storytelling ensemble Troupe who devise and perform interactive, musical theatre performances. She was Chorusmaster for the 2019 CBeebies Prom at the Royal Albert Hall and has conducted children’s choirs in Palestine and India. Jessie devises and presents story-telling concerts with orchestras including Britten Sinfonia and City of London Sinfonia - for whom she recently orchestrated and co-created a song cycle with young people in Tower Hamlets and Harrow. Jessie is Musical Director of trans-inclusive, women’s pop choir Lips who have performed at the Royal Festival Hall, Royal Albert Hall and live on BBC Television. In 2015 she co-founded the award-winning charity Girls Rock London to help build self-esteem and confidence among young women and non-binary youth in Hackney. In 2018, she was awarded The Unsung Hero award by Time Out recognising her achievements in building community through music.

A passionate speaker on music’s unique power to strengthen community and enable personal development, Jessie has spoken live on BBC radio, delivered a TEDx talk and chaired panels at the Southbank Centre and Serious Festival. She has mentored post-graduate music students at the Royal Academy of Music in London and the Australian National Academy of Music in Melbourne. Jessie is Workshop Leader in Residence with Aurora Orchestra where she is storyteller in their Far Far Away series for babies and curator and MC of their late night series for adults called Lock In.

Developing her work as a composer, recent commissions include There is a music for That for piano, voice, cello, flute and recorded voice commissioned by Troupe Ensemble and the Wigmore Hall; Under the Same Sky - for orchestra and chorus of the English National Opera featuring soloist Sarah-Jane Lewis and Maple Tree for musicians of City of London Sinfonia. She is currently working on a piece for youth choir for Spitalfields Music 2022 Festival and developing a show with the Hooligan Community Project in partnership with the British Council and Mahogany Opera.
