Isabella Gonzalez Diaz Horn

Isabella is a French horn player studying at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland as an international student. Isabella was born in Venezuela and was part of El Sistema before moving to the U.S. with her mother in 2011. After five years of intense dedication to horn playing, she was awarded the prestigious John  Philip Sousa Award as well as the Channel 10 My Future, My Choice Award.

In 2020, Isabella moved to Glasgow to study at the Conservatoire under Christopher Gough and John Logan’s teachings. In her years in Scotland,  Isabella successfully played for numerous orchestras around Glasgow and the UK. Some include the GRIT & Qawwali Orchestra as part of Celtic Connections, National Youth Orchestra of Scotland, Amadeus Academy, Glasgow Bach Cantata, Amicus Orchestra and playing side by side with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra. Recently, Isabella will be playing throughout August with the Berlin Opera Academy before returning to RCS for her final year of studies. As well as playing horn, Isabella is enthusiastic about Conducting and has taken part in conducting courses including the Glover-Edwards Conducting Course at Royal Academy, University of Miami Women’s Conducting Symposium, Men’s choir of South Florida Young Conductor and Music for all Conducting Conference Symposium.

Additionally, Isabella is passionate about music education and has gained considerable experience within musical leadership roles. Along with being a Benedetti Foundation Ambassador, Isabella is a NYOS Ambassador and National Youth Pipe Band of Scotland Mentor.

Continuing with performance, Isabella has a vision to spread her passion and knowledge of music to others with less musical opportunities through social media reaching a wider multicultural audience, inspired by The Benedetti Foundation.

Isabella has recently been appointed to be the social media manager of the British Horn Society
