Iona Kaye Soprano

Yorkshire-born soprano Iona Kaye is a graduate of the Royal Northern College of music, with a particular interest in storytelling through music.

As a founding member of the prize-winning collective NOMAD, she loves curating experimental music projects, and exploring folk inspired and contemporary classical repertoire. Highlights with NOMAD include performing in Bridgewater Hall’s Live at Lunchtime concert series, at Factory International’s Aviva Studios for MIF, and premiering the intimate theatre work The Gardener’s Daughter, of which Iona was the original concept creator and storywriter for.

A passionate recitalist, Iona is delighted to explore her love of song as a SongEasel Young Artist and Boyne Music Festival Young Artist this year. She has performed at Buxton Pavilion Arts Centre as an RNCM Songster, and Holywell Music Room for Oxford Song’s Mastercourse recital. As a soloist, she has performed Handel’s Dixit Dominus with Cheshire Chorale, Mozart’s Requiem with Chesterfield Philharmonic Choir, and Britten’s A Ceremony of Carols with ONYC. She has also performed in masterclasses with internationally renowned artists including Graham Johnson, Roderick Williams, and Anna Tilbrook. Iona is proud to be a a Creative Learning Ambassador with the Benedetti Foundation, and Assistant Director for RNCM’s Community Opera, a newly devised opera project working with a variety of schools and community groups across Manchester. She believes in self-discovery through music, and encouraging others to explore their own creativity through singing and play.

Beyond music she loves running and climbing, and finds solace in nature.
