Intermediate and Advanced String Players (separate orchestras)

Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 March c.9.30am-5pm

Join Nicola Benedetti and our incredible team of tutors to prepare, rehearse and perform.  

During these sessions, we will be approaching music in a way that inspires fun and enjoyment, a greater sense of togetherness and a true abandonment of caution, as well as connecting to creativity, to dance, rhythm and improvisation. Each orchestra will work separately, and we will come together for one mass piece. ​Repertoire will be announced in early 2024.

The Intermediate Orchestra is for players working around Grade 4-6 level, and the Advanced Orchestra is for approximately Grade 7+. No exams need to have been taken and these grades are offered as a guide.

You will receive the music and tutorial videos from our Tutors to help you prepare. A creative activity is also shared in advance to encourage you to immerse yourselves in the story of the music during the preparation period.  

On the weekend, we explore expression, storytelling, sound production, freedom in playing, the context of the music and improvisation, as well as delving into specific technical challenges.  

​Both days will end with a short sharing session to which families are invited to join (limited capacity). The sharing sessions will be recorded and shared with all participants.

​On sign up, please add a link to a short video of your playing. This is not for assessment or audition, but helps us to support your young musicians during the weekend. This can be emailed to us after you have completed the registration form and you will be given the deadline to submit this.
