Ines Mayhew-Begg Soprano

Ines Mayhew-Begg is a Scottish Soprano, finishing her Masters in Vocal Performance at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, studying under Helen Lawson. In 2022, she made her German debut as Adele in Lyric Opera Studio Weimar’s Production of Die Fledermaus and looks forward to touring with Opera Bohemia this summer as Kate in Madame Butterfly.

Ines has performed many solo operatic roles at the Beacon Arts Centre for Scottish Opera’s Young Company such as second witch in their production of Dido and Aeneas, Natia in the modern opera Little Black Lies and Amore in Orpheus and Eurydice. Ines’ Amore received praise for having ‘confidence, consistency and fluency,’ by Andrew Clark in Opera Magazine, 2019. She has performed in various opera scenes at the RCS and in the chorus of their recent production of Chabrier’s L’étoile.

She performs regularly with her guitar and voice duo Morris Begg as Live Music Now
Artists and International Guitar Foundation Young Artists. They have given recitals all over the UK including in London Kings Place, St Giles Cathedral, The National Gallery and the Museum of Scotland.

Ines has ensemble experience with National Youth Choir of Scotland, performing for the Edinburgh International Festival, RCS Voices and James Macmillan’s Cumnock Tryst Festival Chorus. She is the recent founder and director of the baroque ensemble, ‘Avra’ who will perform a coffee concert series of Bach this year.

Alongside performing, Ines is a proud Benedetti Foundation Creative Learning Ambassador and a keen advocate and spokesperson for the Fair Access to music scheme, regularly giving interactive performances and workshops for community music projects.
