Imaan is thrilled to be part of Benedetti Foundation as its Development Officer. In her role, she’s deeply committed to connecting with donors and collaborating with trusts and foundations to support the organisation’s mission. Whether it’s lending her energy to in-person events or working with the wider team, she’s eager to bring the Foundation’s initiatives to life.

A passionate musician and ethnomusicologist, Imaan holds a BA in Music from St John’s College, University of Cambridge and is currently working towards an MPhil in Music at the same institution. Her research explores the benefits of community music-making initiatives among the UK’s South Asian diaspora, as well as the structural challenges these groups face in today’s climate. Her work underscores her dedication to making musical experiences and education more accessible and inclusive, aligning closely with the values of the Foundation’s mission.

Before joining the Benedetti Foundation, Imaan gained experience across a variety of fields, including tele-fundraising, events management, marketing, and data analytics. This unusual background equips her with a unique skill set that she’s excited to bring to her role. When she’s not working, she can be found playing the violin with the Chineke! Orchestra, where she’s been a member since 2020. With the orchestra, she’s performed in prestigious events like the BBC Proms, the Lucerne Festival, and Chineke!’s dynamic concert series, contributing to projects that amplify works by underrepresented composers and champion diversity and excellence in classical music.

Imaan has long been inspired by Nicola Benedetti and was overjoyed to perform alongside her in 2018 during a side-by-side masterclass while leading the National Children’s Orchestra. She later participated in the mass virtual orchestra organised by the Benedetti Foundation during the COVID-19 pandemic, further deepening her admiration for Nicola’s vision and work ethic.

Outside of her professional and musical life, Imaan can be found exploring her latest hobby which has ranged from calligraphy and embroidery to powerlifting, rowing, artistic gymnastics, and social dancing! Her curiosity and love for learning make her a vibrant and dynamic presence both on and off the team.
