Heidi Kim Violin

Violinist Heidi Kim has concertised extensively across North America, Europe, and Asia. She made her Carnegie Hall solo debut at the National Band & Orchestra Festival and her international debut at the London New Year’s Day Parade. Recent projects include touring England with Marc Almond, John Harle, and The Bauhaus Band, and playing violin and viola in TUMI’s Fall 2022 docu-campaign, Built for the Journey, featuring professional footballer Son Heung-min.

A passionate educator, Kim is a 2023 Benedetti Foundation Instrumental Ambassador. She has also taught at Junior Guildhall, the San Francisco Community Music Center, Interlochen Arts Center, Cleveland School of the Arts, and in Seoul. Her students have been accepted to the Ruth Asawa San Francisco School of the Arts, San Francisco High School of the Arts, UCLA, University of California-Santa Cruz, San Francisco State University, and University of Colorado-Boulder, and have appeared on America’s Got Talent.

A native of Detroit, Heidi Kim began her musical studies on the violin at age 6 and piano at age 8. She studied at the Cleveland Institute of Music with Joan Kwuon, San Francisco Academy Orchestra with San Francisco Symphony violinist Melissa Kleinbart, and is currently a Master’s candidate at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama studying with Akiko Ono. Other influential mentors include David Dolan, Peter Salaff, Gabriel Bolkosky, and Patricia Pats Gurin.

Outside of music, Heidi is a dancer with Chelsea Ballet. When not doing ballet, she can usually be found dancing at a milonga somewhere, shooting arrows, or exploring.
