Hannah Seymour Oboe

Hannah is an outgoing, positive and dedicated oboist who has recently graduated with a First Class Degree from the Royal Northern College of Music where she studied with Jenny Galloway, Jonathan Small and Gill Callow. During her time at the RNCM she was part of lots of projects, highlights include playing under Sir Mark Elder. She has been awarded the Winfield/ Graham Solo Wind Prize and 2nd place for the Evelyn Rothwell (Barbirolli) Oboe Prize.

Since graduating, Hannah has played with the BBC Philharmonic and Hallé, and was also offered places on the Hallé and Opera North Professional Experience Schemes whilst at RNCM.

She loves performing with ‘Northern Reeds’, an award winning reed quintet based in the North of England, at venues ranging from the Bridgewater Hall to Whitworth Art Gallery. This new and exciting chamber music format has won them Royal Philharmonic Society Henderson Chamber Ensemble Award, RNCM Fewkes Prize, the June Emerson Wind Music Launchpad Prize, and the RNCM Christopher Rowland Prize Audience Vote. They have recently recorded their debut album at The Stoller Hall, which will be released in Autumn 2023.

Hannah is also passionate about Women in Music, and is a co-director of EMPOWER; an organisation showcasing and championing women in music and the arts annually in celebration of International Women’s Day.

She will soon be starting her Master’s degree as a scholar at the Royal College of Music.

Hannah loves being an Ambassador for the Benedetti Foundation, as it gives the invaluable opportunity to be a part of a musical community across the globe.
