Emily Linane Mezzo Soprano

Emily is currently studying for her master's degree in composition under the tuition of Edward Jessen and Matt Roberts at Trinity Laban Conservatoire. She is currently supported by TCL and Gareth Neame Scholarships respectfully and is grateful for their support. In 2021, Emily graduated from The University of York with a first-class degree in Music which was where she was influenced by Stef Conner. Emily enjoys composing for a range of ensembles including herself as a soprano and has recently composed for the Contemporary Music Group at Trinity, Riot Ensemble, Arc Project, and Chimera. Her work often uses multimedia influences with the use of art and more recently, electronics within her compositions. As a fond improviser herself (a member of an improvised opera group) Emily likes to feature improvisatory elements within her work that create space for the players to explore. Manipulating, abstracting, and distorting folk elements and old musical ideas and structures are forms that she wishes to continue to develop in her works.

Emily continues to enjoy singing alongside her craft, under the tutelage of Patricia Rosario, and sings in numerous choirs including The London Symphony Chorus. She currently enjoys playing in Trinity Laban's Saxophone Choir. Equality and accessibility within music education are important to Emily and she is proud to be a Creative Ambassador with The Benedetti Foundation to be able to be a trailblazer in this field.
