Carmela Feoli Chacon Violin

Carmela Feoli Chacon is a multitalented artist from Costa Rica currently studying Violin Performance at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland under the tutelage of Andrea Gajic.

Carmela started her musical studies at a young age and spent most of her childhood at the Sistema Nacional de Educación Musical. She continued her training at the University of Costa Rica’s pre-university program, receiving lessons from prof. Guido Calvo. She moved to Boston in 2019 and received violin lessons with prof. Saul Bitran, first violinist of Cuarteto Latinoamericano, professor at the Boston Conservatory.

Some of her orchestra highlights include playing in the University of Costa Rica’s school of music orchestra, the Boston Philharmonic Youth Orchestra, playing a side-by-side with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, the RCS Symphony Orchestra, as well as the New England Conservatory Summer Music Institute in where she served as principal second violin in their two-week orchestra intensive.

Carmela is also an avid viola player, and enjoys playing in different chamber music settings as well as in Symphony Orchestra. She began learning more about chamber music when attending the Encore Music Projects Summer School in Wells, which she’s been expanding since entering the RCS.

Community Music is hugely important to Carmela, and she was fortunate enough to learn with Drake Music Scotland and do primary school workshops. This year, she joined the Benedetti Foundation Ambassador Programme where she’s expanding her knowledge about music education from some of the best tutors.

Her other artistic interests include singing, ballet, and Latin-dancing.
