Andrew Rogers Cello

Performing music from Bach to Sondheim, Andrew is a passionate and versatile musician currently studying Cello at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland with Martin Storey. He is equally at home as a continuo cellist, as well as in the pit for a musical theatre show.

Andrew is a passionate chamber musician and is a founding member of the Coillte Quartet, a quartet which challenges conventional collaboration by exploring new sound worlds. The quartet’s performance of Guillermo Lago’s Consecuencias for string quartet and saxophone was greeted with much acclaim and a recent recording of ‘Myopic’ a piece for vibraphone and string quartet by Pablo Martinez has allowed the quartet to expand its voice.

Andrew is an ardent Orchestral player, performing round the UK and the Channel Islands.Notably as part of the Amadeus Orchestra and he was a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Scotland from 2020-2022, which included projects with Jess Gillam and Timothy Ridout.

Music education is especially important to Andrew, and he is at the beginning of his teaching career. In 2019, Andrew was fortunate enough to teach in several schools in inner-city Manchester, which ignited a passion for reaching young musicians from all backgrounds. He is also currently expanding his teaching studio.

Future projects include performing Cosi Fan Tutte and Ariadne auf Naxosin the Berlin Opera Academy, organising and performing ‘St John’s Passion’ with David Watkinand upcoming projects as a Benedetti Foundation Ambassador around Scotland
