Georgina Murphy Clifford
Head of Education and Artistic Planning

Georgina holds a First-Class Honours degree and a Master’s from the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, where she later completed a PhD in Music Education. She is widely recognised as a teacher, researcher and performer, with a culturally responsive and inclusive approach to music education.

Alongside her role with The Benedetti Foundation, Georgina is a Lecturer in Music Education at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance and also teaches Recorder Teaching Skills at the GSMD. An experienced school teacher, she has extensive experience as a former Head of Music. A qualified teacher of traditional Irish music and trained Kodály practitioner, her work spans a wide range of educational settings, including music hubs, mainstream, independent and Steiner schools.

Rooted in community music practice, Georgina has led creative projects in a wide range of contexts, including prisons (working particularly with members of the Travelling Community), SEND settings, and long-term partnerships with community arts organisations. She is experienced in leading orchestral outreach and intergenerational programmes, with a strong focus on accessibility, cultural inclusion and social impact.

Georgina contributes to the development of grassroots music education as Founding Co-Director of Bedford Music Cooperative. She also serves on the Board of the European Recorder Teachers' Association, chairs the local community board of the Philharmonia Orchestra, and sits on the steering committee of the International Society for the Sociology of Music Education.

When she’s not making music, Georgina enjoys long walks the family dogs, including her toy poodle, Percy, her sister’s whippet, Pickle, and her parents’ whippet, Bowie.
