Musicians’ Wellbeing – Teachers, Students and Young Musicians Age 15+
Saturday 10, 17 and 24 October
Advanced Vibrato (Higher Positions & Double Stops) for Upper Strings
Monday 5 and 12 October
A two-part series focusing on developing vibrato for advanced violinists & violists. A follow on to the July vibrato session, but equally as accessible to new participants, these sessions will allow you to extend your vibrato skills in the higher positions and with double stops and to explore the different colours and textures which can be achieved for different characters. This is recommended for advanced players
Physiotherapist Dr Sarah Upjohn, who specialises in musicians and the prevention of musicians’ injuries, and violinists, yogis and co-founders of Intermission, Elena Urioste, Melissa White, will lead these 3-part Sessions.
These Sessions will focus on your role in maintaining your student’s physical and mental wellbeing. In Session 1 and 2, Sarah will focus on posture, sitting and standing positions for all instruments and as a registered physiotherapist will talk more about the strains and stresses on your student’s bodies and how to avoid injury before it happens. In Session 3, Elena and Melissa will work on a variety of breathing exercises and share how yoga has supported their journeys as violinists. They will be sharing exercises and routines you can safely use with your students and will also talk about this in relation to mental wellbeing.
