A Virtual Sessions

The Benedetti Foundation invites you to join us in the lead up to Christmas to take part in our very first Christmas sessions.

These sessions will bring together string players of all ages and stages, from all across the world to prepare and perform together, Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, in a unique arrangement by the Ayoub Sisters.

We can’t wait to welcome you - let’s be together this Christmas.

The Sessions

Over a two-week period, we will work with participants of all ages and stages - beginner, intermediate and advanced level string players - to prepare the parts initially through a tutorial video and 'play along with us' track.

On the second week, we will then meet all of you on a Zoom session (school age musicians) and simultaneous live stream (musicians over 18) to work on the part with your tutor.

December 7 -13 Explore and Discover

This week is about familiarisation. We’ll be getting comfortable with the part ready for week 2.

December 14-17Prepare and Perform

During week 2, School age participants will meet on Zoom for a live prepare and perform session.

Live Sessions Schedule:

· Monday 14 – Violins

· Tuesday 15 – Cellos

· Wednesday 16 – Violas

· Thursday 17 – Double Basses

· 5-5.30pm UK Time – Beginners

· 6-6.30pm UK Time – Intermediate

· 7.15-7.45pm UK Time – Advanced

For Adult Participants, the live sessions will be streamed to our website so you can take part alongside the young people.

For those in time zones unable to attend live, a catch-up recording will be made available to you.

The Final Film

To conclude our Virtual Sessions, all participants will have the opportunity to record a video of themselves performing their part and submit this for the final film. Video submissions can be sent in between December 15-19, deadlines will be different for each instrument. We will try to include as many videos as we possibly can in the film.

Throughout the two weeks, we fully encourage creative responses from young people and their families and from our adult participants reflecting on this time of year and what this piece of music means to them. We will work with you to suggest some activities participants can explore alone, with siblings, families and friends, whilst also leaving space for free submissions.

We will include a selection of the creative responses we receive as part of the final music video.

We will premiere our final film on Christmas Eve as we all join together across the world to mark the end of an extraordinary year of virtual music making.

These Sessions are free to attend, with a recommended donation of around £10 per person. However, please donate what you can, if you can. No-one will be prevented from attending due to financial circumstances.

We can’t wait to see you all together for the Christmas Sessions 2020.
