Audition Tips (Instrumental Teachers, Students and Young Musicians Age 15+)

Advanced Vibrato (Higher Positions & Double Stops) for Upper Strings
Monday 5 and 12 October
A two-part series focusing on developing vibrato for advanced violinists & violists. A follow on to the July vibrato session, but equally as accessible to new participants, these sessions will allow you to extend your vibrato skills in the higher positions and with double stops and to explore the different colours and textures which can be achieved for different characters. This is recommended for advanced players
This one-hour intensive session is designed for young musicians considering or about to embark on conservatoire auditions, those auditioning for places in local or national youth orchestras or undergraduate students undertaking auditions in the coming weeks and months.
This session will be taken by Andrea Gajic and Julian Lloyd Webber both of whom have extensive experiences in conservatoire auditions. Andrea is a Professor of Violin at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and until just this past month, Julian was Principal of Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. We are thrilled they have agreed to deliver this session.
We will also have a number of our Ambassadors, who between them have studied at all of the UK’s conservatoires, on the chat. You will be able to ask questions to them throughout the session. We’ll be talking about audition preparation from your repertoire choices to technical studies to orchestral excerpts.
This is designed to give you an overview into the experience and to help support those who may be considering this route in the near future. Teachers who have students at this stage or are interested in this topic are also invited to join us.
